Ad Campaign Says Disability Is ‘Not A Dirty Word’

Disability often faces negative stereotypes. To combat this, Easterseals Southern California launched an ad campaign called “D1$@B1L*TY is Not a Dirty Word.” The ad, created by and featuring individuals with disabilities, aims to change public understanding. It will air nationally during the Paralympics on NBC, CNN, Hulu, Google, streaming services, and will also appear on billboards. The one-minute video displays 12 people with different disabilities, each expressing how they embrace their differences, regardless of others’ acceptance, thus sending the powerful message: “Say disability with pride.” This campaign is both about and for people with disabilities, sharing their experiences to foster acceptance and promote positive change.
