The iPad Becomes More Accessible

Apple has launched an add on device to its iPad known as the TD Pilot. It is a certified Apple accessory by Tobii Dynavox which attaches to a standard iPad using eye-tracking technology into all of the typical features of the tablet. People with disabilities can now control Apple’s iPad using just their eyes. The TD Pilot consists of TD Talk which is an eye controlled application to generate speech along with the TD Snap offering symbols which users can select to communicate. It also has speakers with an extended battery life with rugged design that can be mounted on a wheelchair. This technology works even in bright light outside. Additionally, there is a window on back of the device so that words written using the eye can be seen by others a user is talking with. Using the TD Pilot technology of eye tracking, people with disabilities will be able to follow their passions. TD Pilot is a medically certified device which is available by prescription and paid by health insurance.
